Functional Skills- English Level 2
Course Overview
This qualification assesses speaking, listening, communication, reading and writing. It is also suitable for those who wish to apply their English skills to a range of unfamiliar contexts, through discussions, exchanges, texts and through written communication.
Universities are increasingly asking for Functional Skills Level 2 as part of their entry criteria and therefore if you wish to gain admission to university, you may need to enrol on Functional Skills- English Level 2.
This course will give you the opportunity to:

Assessment & Course Structure
This qualification contains one mandatory unit of three components: Reading,
Writing and Speaking, Listening and Communication.
The Speaking, Listening and Communication component of this qualification is
internally assessed by your tutor and externally moderated by the awarding body, OCR.
The Reading and Writing components of this qualification are externally set by OCR and externally assessed by their Examiners.
Assessment of the Reading and Writing components is by a paper-based or onscreen test which is externally set by us and externally assessed by our Examiners.
If you believe you are ready to sit the exams without enrolling on the course, you do have the option to make an exam booking only.
Entry Requirements
There are no formal entry requirements for this qualification.
All applicants will be required to take an English and Mathematics initial assessment, regardless of previous qualifications.
Please note that universities are increasingly asking for GCSEs or L2 Functional Skills as part of their entry criteria and therefore if you wish to gain admission to university, you may need to enrol on GCSE or L2 Functional Skills English and Maths course. Please note that it is the responsibility of the student to ensure their current and future qualifications comply with the entry requirements of any university to which they intend to progress.
