Course Overview

The Level 3 Diploma in Business is a 60-credit Ofqual regulated qualification and is the equivalent level to 1 A Level or an Access to HE qualification.

This course is suitable for you if you currently don’t have any qualifications or if you have been out of full-time education for a period of time, but wish to progress onto a business or management degree at University.

How Businesses Operate
The key features of an organisation and their importance are explored, including finance, leadership, HR, marketing, managing data and customer service.

Marketing Principles and Techniques
An introduction to marketing is provided, followed by a look at research, analysis and promotional techniques.

Academic and Research Skills for Business
This unit is for understanding ones own academic strengths and weaknesses and developing research papers using a variety of skills.

Communication Skills for Business
A look at how communication is used in business and how ones own communication skills can be developed to effectively present information and ideas.

Career Opportunities & Further Study

Learners primarily progress to university to study in areas related to Business. These may include:

• BA (Hons) Marketing
• BA (Hons)Business Management
• BSc (Hons) Business Accountancy
• BA (Hons) Business

Students commonly progress to a bachelor degree at a range of our university partners.

Entry Requirements

All applicants will be required to take an English and Mathematics initial assessment, regardless of previous qualifications. 

Please note that universities are increasingly asking for GCSEs or L2 Functional Skills as part of their entry criteria and therefore if you wish to gain admission to university, you may need to enrol on GCSE or L2 Functional Skills English and Maths course. Please note that it is the responsibility of the student to ensure their current and future qualifications comply with the entry requirements of any university to which they intend to progress.

All applicants will be interviewed to ensure that the course is the right choice based on previous educational and work experience. 

Financial eligibility

This course can be funded through the 19+ Advanced Learner Loan. You will need to check that you meet the eligibility criteria for the 19+ Advanced Learning Loan.

The National Skills Fund level 3 adult offer (also known as the free courses for jobs offer) is available to support adults aged 24 and above without an existing full level 3 or equivalent qualification. This offer is also available to adults aged 19 to 23 alongside the 19 to 23 legal entitlement offer. From 1 April 2022 the National Skills Fund Level 3 Adult offer has been expanded to include all adults who meet the definition of ‘low wage’ or ‘unemployed’ who already have a full level 3 or higher achieved prior to 1 April 2021 or who have achieved a short qualification after 1 April 2021
