Course Overview

If you are looking to become a fully qualified electrician and want to work in domestic, commercial and industrial locations, the City & Guilds 2365 Level 3 Electrical Installation qualification is now a recognised route.

The course has been designed for candidates seeking an entry route into the electrical industry. This qualification provides an understanding of Fundamental Principles and Environmental Technologies, Principles of Electrical Science, Fault Diagnosis and Rectification, Inspection, Testing and Commissioning and Electrical system Design.

This course will also increase your knowledge of the principles of electrical science, and give you an in-depth understanding of health and safety in building services engineering, so you can create a safe working environment that meets industry standards.

Assessment

Assessment will consist of a combination of practical and technical assessments, course work, portfolio work, and online exams.

To achieve this qualification, you will complete a minimum of 52 credits and will develop knowledge, skills in areas such as:

  • Health and safety in building services engineering
  • Fundamental principles and requirements of environmental systems
  • Principles of electrical science
  • Electrical installations, fault diagnosis and rectification
  • Electrical installations, inspection, testing and commissioning
  • Electrical systems design
  • Career awareness in building services industry

Career Opportunities & Further Study

This course can lead to further study, employment and covers underpinning knowledge elements of the NVQ in Electrotechnical Services.

Entry Requirements

All applicants will be required to take an English and Mathematics initial assessment, regardless of previous qualifications. 

Please note that universities are increasingly asking for GCSEs or Functional Skills as part of their entry criteria and therefore if you wish to gain admission to university, you may need to enrol on GCSE or Functional Skills English and Maths course. Please note that it is the responsibility of the student to ensure their current and future qualifications comply with the entry requirements of any university to which they intend to progress.

You need to have evidence that you meet the 19+ Advanced Learning Loan criteria or have the financial means to do so, if you will be paying for your course privately.
