Additional Financial Support
Bursary Fund
If you meet the eligibility criteria, you may be provided with additional financial support through the Bursary Fund, which can be used to provide financial assistance with travel, course equipment and childcare costs on the days you attend college.

Assessment
This diploma is 65 credits and you will be assessed through your coursework and direct observation at your workplace.
To do this you will achieve 27 credits from:
- All four units of the Skills for Care and Development shared core
- All seven Children and Young People mandatory core units
You will also select one mandatory occupational pathway from:
- Early Learning and Childcare
- Social Care
- Learning, Development and Support Services
The remaining credits will be achieved from a choice of optional units.
There are there are three main pathways you can pick from depending on your core interests:
-Level 3 Diploma for the Children and Young People’s Workforce: Early Learning and Childcare Pathway (England) (4227-03)- suitable for, eg day care setting practitioners
– Level 3 Diploma for the Children and Young People’s Workforce: Social Care Pathway (England) (4227-04)- suitable for, eg practitioners in residential care
– Level 3 Diploma for the Children and Young People’s Workforce: Learning and Development Support Services (LDSS) Pathway (England) (4227-05)- suitable for, eg Connexions staff and learning mentors.

- Understand Child and Young Person Development
- Understand How to Safeguard the Wellbeing of Children and Young People
- Understand How to Support Positive Outcomes for Children and Young People
- Promote Equality and Inclusion in Health, Social Care or Children’s and Young People’s Settings
Course Structure
You will develop evidence of your work practice, including assignments, case studies, written accounts and work products.
Your evidence will be uploaded to our easy to use and accessible online e-portfolio platform, which is available 24/7 on computers, tablets and mobile devices.
Your assessor will support you throughout your qualification and observe work-based practice on at least six occasions. They will assess evidence uploaded to your e-portfolio and provide developmental feedback.
Entry Requirements
All applicants will be required to take an English and Mathematics initial assessment, regardless of previous qualifications.
Please note that universities are increasingly asking for GCSEs or L2 Functional Skills as part of their entry criteria and therefore if you wish to gain admission to university, you may need to enrol on GCSE or L2 Functional Skills English and Maths course. Please note that it is the responsibility of the student to ensure their current and future qualifications comply with the entry requirements of any university to which they intend to progress.
All applicants will be interviewed to ensure that the course is the right choice based on previous educational and work experience.
Financial eligibility
This course can be funded through the 19+ Advanced Learner Loan. You will need to check that you meet the eligibility criteria for the 19+ Advanced Learning Loan.
