Salary: Hourly Paid Contract (Negotiable depending on experience)

Contract: Part-time | 16 hours per week (2days per week)

The Gas Engineering IQA will manage and support a team of tutors, assessors delivering the City and Guilds L3 Diploma in Gas Engineering qualification.

The role will involve supporting the assessment process, standardisation, CPD, skills development and EQA process to ensure that learners are engaged and trained on course through engaging practical and theoretical sessions utilising our e-learning platform and face to face delivery. You will also monitor and record progress, set goals and provide support to ensure timely achievement and meet team KPI’s.

You will need to be flexible and have the ability to manage your own time, work to team and departmental targets.

Although you will work closely with the management team, you will be required to work on your own initiative, reporting on tutor and learner progress, managing quality and assessment and meeting Ofsted obligations.

Applicants MUST hold the appropriate qualifications along with experience of working in a IQA or quality lead role; experience of managing tutors.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Plan and prepare Internal Quality Assurance including what will be monitored, from whom and when, liaising with stakeholders to achieve results
  • Observe trainer and assessor performance and provide developmental feedback
  • Sample assessment records, learners’ work, and assessment decisions · Facilitate the standardisation of practice
  • Facilitate team meetings
  • Act as the lead point of contact for trainers and assessors
  • Ensure that trainers and assessors are fully briefed and carry out their roles appropriately
  • Perform appraisals, assessing performance, objective setting, and developing action plans.
  • Agree an appropriate sampling strategy with EQA’s to provide an accurate representation of quality of assessment practice within the centre
  • Complete all awarding body claims
  • Ensure action points are implemented within agreed timescales
  • Meet Ofsted obligations

Essential Criteria

  • IT Literate
  • Experience of using e-learning platforms is desirable, however full training will be given to successful candidate
  • Understanding of the Ofsted framework
  • 2 years management experience
  • Strong time management skills
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
  • Experience working to KPI’s and team targets
  • Hold a full UK driving licence, own transport, and willingness to travel to appointments if required by the company

Education:

  • GCSE’s Maths and English AC equivalent (Desirable)
  • Internal Verification V1
  • A recognised teaching or training
    qualification for example; PTLLS, CTLLS,
    DTLLS, PGCE, AET, CET, DET
  • Relevant industry qualifications
    – Gas Safe Registered
    – CCN1 (Core)
    – CPA1 (Analysers)
    – CENWAT( boilers)
    – MET1 (meters)
    • IQA must be technically qualified in
    domestic gas installation/maintenance
    and hold one of the following
    qualifications:
    • City & Guilds Level 3 Diploma in Gas
    Utilisation or
    • City & Guilds / SQA S/NVQ in Domestic
    Natural Gas (Level 3) or
    • City & Guilds 662 Certificate for Service
    Engineers (Gas) or
    • City & Guilds 598-2 Certificate in Gas
    Installation Studies or
    • City & Guilds 660 Certificate in Gas
    Fitting
    This list is not considered exhaustive and
    other ‘Mechanical Engineering Services’
    (MES) or ‘Building Engineering Services’
    (BES) qualifications at Level 3 / SCQF
    Level 6 or equivalent may be considered
    acceptable. This will be submitted to C&G
    to confirm prior post confirmation
    • Assessor Awards A1 & A2

Experience:

  • At least 5 years’ experience in relevant sector/s
  • A proven track record of demonstrating learner development in a work-based setting
  • Experience of implementing strategies for inspiring learners, increasing their resilience in overcoming barriers and obstacles, and in raising concerns.
